Kapadokya

Cities built into mountains & Fairy Chimneys

Fairy Chimneys

Cappadocia, or Kapadokya is probably one of the coolest landscapes ever. It looks like you're in a desert on the moon, for real! There are hills, mountains & caves everywhere. Small homes that were carved into the sides of cliffs and mountains from THOUSANDS of years ago can be found everywhere for you to crawl in for some shade if you want. Be honest, is your mind blown?

At night, it gets so dark out that you can barely see in front of you if you're not near a town or city. We rode from Göreme to Uçhisar on our moped and once you get out of the "city" area, its pitch black. Imagine, complete darkness besides the light from our moped illuminating the street just barely in front of us. The howling wind and scattered noises of who knows what kind of animals, and way off in the distance the bright lights of a far off city built right into a towering mountainside. It felt like I was in a post apocalyptic world searching for gas and food or something. I wish you could see it.

A Call to Prayer over the Caves of Cappadocia

Memories are chiseled into centuries of stone
Every fracture born of the fragile shifting of past
into present
To be here is to feel the weight of a thousand years
Pulsing inside our veins
To feel the heart of an uknowable night
Beating within our own

And even as the world spins
forward beneath us
The still air beckons us to stop
To listen
As ghosts whisper their stories into
our ears

Speaking to us through the long hallways of time
their faces becoming indistinguishable
from our own

Getting SO High

I had to get up at 4am for this.......Worth it.

Birds Eye View of Kapadokya

Day Two

We spend the entire day zipping around on our moped looking for a hike in Rose Valley. We get lost for hours and never find it.

Fuck it, lets ride.
